Comprehensive Dental Services for the Whole Family

At the dental office of Denis A. Quagliariello, D.M.D., we provide our patients with a range of comprehensive dental services. Dr. Quagliariello has the skills and knowledge necessary to provide every patient with the care they need. With a warm and welcoming environment, our patients feel comfortable and can ask any questions they may have about their dental treatments.

Some of the services we offer include, but are not limited to:

Routine Dental Cleaning

It is suggested that patients should be seen for a dental cleaning and routine exam every 6 months or as recommended by Dr. Quagliariello. During the cleaning, plaque and calculus will be removed from your teeth leaving behind a bright and polished smile. X-rays may need to be taken to help detect possible cavities in between teeth that cannot be seen by the naked eye.

Periodontal Services

Though your mouth may feel healthy and you may not have any symptoms, periodontal disease can progress without a patient knowing. If left untreated, periodontal disease can destroy the supporting bones in your mouth. This is why early treatment and prevention is so important! Dr. Quagliariello and his staff will make sure you are receiving the highest quality of care that will assist in preventing periodontal disease from developing.

Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride is a great agent used to help prevent tooth decay. It is naturally present in different amounts in almost all foods and water supplies. Benefits of using fluoride have been well known for over 50 years and are supported by many health and professional organizations.

Works in two ways:

As a topical fluoride it helps to strengthen the patient’s teeth once they have erupted by getting into the outer surface of the tooth enamel, helping to make the teeth more resistant to decay. We gain topical fluoride by using fluoride containing dental products such as toothpaste, mouth rinses, and gels.

Systemic fluoride strengthens teeth that have erupted, and those that are still developing under the gums. Systemic fluoride is gained from most foods and our water supply. It is also available as a supplement in drop or gel form and can be prescribed by your dentist or physician. Usually, fluoride drops are recommended for infants, and tablets are best suited for children up through the teen years.

Veneers

Dr. Quagliariello is happy to offer his patients the option of dental veneers. Veneers can drastically change your smile. Veneers are used to create a more aesthetically pleasing smile. Veneers can change alignment of teeth, close spaces, lengthen teeth that have been shortened by wear, provide uniform color, shape, and symmetry.

A veneer is a thin layer of lab processed porcelain that covers the fronts of a tooth’s surface. This is a treatment option that requires less tooth preparation then a tradition crown. Call us for more information!

Crowns and Bridges
Crowns are necessary when a tooth is severely damaged or has suffered from advanced decay and cannot be fixed with bonded filling material. Crowns cover the remaining tooth and restore its function, strength, and esthetics. Several crown material options are available and Dr. Quagliariello will discuss these on an individual basis depending on the area of the mouth that needs to be restored.

Bridges can be utilized when tooth loss occurs due to gum disease, decay, or injury. The loss of the tooth can create greater problems for your dental health if it is not corrected. The teeth next to the missing tooth (or teeth) can begin to move and result in pain, discomfort, and can look unsightly. With bridges, Dr. Quagliariello will close any gaps in your mouth. The bridge looks and acts just like natural teeth, is permanently cemented, and helps to maintain the position of the rest of your teeth.

Endodontic Therapy (Root Canals)
Root canal therapy is needed when a cavity has reached the pulp of a tooth causing an infection of the nerve, or when severe trauma has affected the tooth. Regular checkups with your dentist helps to avoid and prevent the need for endodontic therapy. But once the pulp has become infected, it must be treated to avoid further issues since it cannot heal by itself. Some signs that a pulp is infected include sensitivity to hot or cold foods or liquids, pain, swelling, or even a bad taste in the mouth. For some patients no symptoms are obvious and they are unaware a problem even exists until they are seen by their dentist for an exam.

When endodontic therapy is performed, your dentist will clean out the infected pulp, and disinfect the canals of the tooth. Once the area has been disinfected, the canals of the tooth are filled with a special material to prevent from further infections, and help in the healing of the tooth. Sometimes a core build-up, bonded post, and crown are necessary for restoring a tooth to function.

Dental Implants
If you happen to be missing one or more teeth, dental implants could be the perfect solution for you! Dental implants are natural-looking and are permanently anchored into the patient’s jawbone and, unlike traditional bridges, no preparation of adjacent teeth is required.

It is important to replace missing teeth, because if left with spaces, your teeth can shift and cause a variety of other dental problems. Dr. Quagliariello has extensive experience in treatment planning and designing implant solutions that are custom tailored for each individual patient. When your dental implants are placed, your jaw will bond and attach to the implant making them very strong and functional.

Tooth-Colored Fillings
In the past few years, most silver restorations have been replaced with tooth colored fillings, resulting in a smile you can be proud of, and which looks completely natural. Dr. Quagliariello will discuss restorative options with you and recommend what is best for your individual situation.
Teeth Whitening

  • Tea, coffee, wine, and soda
  • Certain medications

Non-Surgical Gum Treatments
The gums, ligaments, and bone around the teeth form the foundation for your teeth. All structures are also referred to as the periodontium. When the periodontium is not healthy, it jeopardizes the teeth just as a bad foundation would threaten the stability of a house.

Signs of unhealthy periodontium (gum disease) include: gums that are red and bleed easily, persistent bad breath, gums that are pulled away from the tooth, loose teeth, and changes in the position or bite of the teeth. Any of these signs may mean something is wrong. With the proper care, however, it may be possible to return them to a healthy state. This is where appropriate gum treatments come in.

If you’re having a problem, come in and see us so we can take care of it right away. The treatment usually involves a deep cleaning or root planing done under a local anesthetic, along with local antibiotic agents. If the gum disease gets too severe it may need to be treated through surgery or extraction. This is why it is important to get it treated at the first sign of a problem.
